The Abisko mountains is a mountain area on both sides of Torne Träsk, containing a few higher massifs. The area is limited by Abiskodalen-Alesvagge to the south, and with the border with Norway in west and north The highest peak is Kiellastjåkka (1803 m), and there are 11 1700-meter and 16 1600-meter peaks.
The Abisko mountains contain 26 glaciers, most small however (only 2 is larger than 1 km2). The total area is 10.30 km2, being 3.5 % of the glacier area of Sweden.
In total there are 2 valley glaciers, 14 cirque glaciers, and 10 ice caps. The area of the valley glaciers varies between 0.71 and 1.57 km2, the cirque glaciers between 0.05 and 0.82, and finally the ice caps between 0.12 and 1.23 km2.
