The larger glaciers of Norway

Norway has some 3000 glaciers, or breer, being the Norwegian word for it (plural) - about 10 times as many as there are in Sweden, and many much larger than the Swedish ones as well. Of course it is an impossibility to cover them all here in the same way I have done for the Swedish glaciers. Instead I will here treat the larger and more prominent - all larger than 1 km2, as well as a few smaller ones.

Contents

  • The larger glaciers of Norway, arranged after area

  • Table over the glaciers of Northern Norway larger than 5 km2 (glacier complexes treated as one unit)

  • Table over the glaciers of Northern Norway larger than 5 km2 (glacier complexes divided into ice streams)

  • (For the interested, information concerning classification, naming, and measurements.)
